I have also learned to not guess who the person with the patient is. Recently a woman handed her bag and jacket to the man with her. He sort a did a good natured eye roll and I smiled. The old me would have joked “That’s why we bring our husbands “ but instead I said are you related. The patient said yes, that’s my son. I do not have a poker face and looked surprised. She said what were you thinking? I told her I thought he was her husband. Her response was “See, I DO look good” Thank you so much. 😊
