This is how we make a change. Your words rang so loudly and true to me. Todd made a very valid point as well. For me it has always been about the way I was raised. Never give up. 3 simple words.
Love your statement;
βTo move forward, we cannot be divided or distracted.β
I was in a primary care system where established patients had appointment delays of 7 months not 7 weeks. I accept that not getting angry is the correct attitude since doctors can't work effectively under those kinds of workloads.
This is my fav article of yours. Mary and I were just discussing denial recently (see her excellent post in sensible medicine and my less than excellent post about denial in addicted nurses on my page). The fact that so many burn out really concerns me - I burned out too, not from patients, but from the broken system. My body took care of whether or not Iβd be back, sadly for the worse. I didnβt even know about Mexico and it seems like we are at a similar juncture now. I used to tell my patients DONβT GET SICK. And donβt buy a FORD! (Kidding; howβs Patrick?)
Thank you, Jim. Patrick is good! My husband was able to fix the minor issues and I will take him to our local dealership next time (with extremely low expectations!)
Having been a CNM a long time ago, then moving into behavioral health and healthcare org consulting, I am thanking you whole-heartedly for every piece you write. I especially loved this one.

Can I be both?
Sadly, yes. π«

πYou are too kind, Zoe. Thank you.
Nothing to do with kindness (much as that is essential in life) and all to do with calling out wisdom!
