I read essays by writers from many different eras and cultures. Philip Lopate’s anthology of personal essays is excellent. So much of what we read is contextual. Well, it all is. But yes, it’s good to know there’s always another writer to read. Although at my age, I have to be selective, and allow myself to not finish reading to the end.
