Working as a nurse in long term care and also as a recent breast cancer survivor, I can relate to all you wrote about. I see adult children who won’t allow their parents to make decisions about their health even when there is no cognitive impairment. That saddens me. I’m grateful that as I navigated my cancer diagnosis and treatment that my oncologist didn’t chastise me for my decisions to forgo certain things that he recommended and gave me autonomy.
