Thank you for writing this post. I try to find purpose, hope, and beauty in this world despite the abysmal cruelty wages by the Republicans in Washington DC. please continue writing these posts, offering a glimmer of hope for our future, despite that cruelty.
Thank you, Gary. I was so moved by this young investigator's hopelessness. Us old grumpy bumps need fresh faces to push us towards innovation and it made me sad to think that she was questioning her profession.
Have you seen the horrible streets of skid row in LA, beaches like Santa Monica and San Francisco where zombies who were once sentient humans have succumbed to the easy drugs that rot their brains and bodies while those in control find $$$ from the NGOs to fund this city sanctioned open air drug spaces and these people live in their own filth and die on the streets all while those in charge of these agencies hire their friends and families for six figure salaries
Businesses are forced out as no sane person wants to walk through drug paraphernalia, urine and feces— and once thriving cities are failing
I am not an expert on homelessness and urban planning. However, I have seen how these issues impact patients with cancer and I hear your frustration about this injustice. If you know a newsletter that presents evidence-based solutions to these problems, I would love to hear about it. Thank you for reading and commenting!
What I see — ‘urban planning’ and ‘homelessness’ without acknowledging the insane open borders in the past administration—a red herring
Gavin has been fighting homelessness for every election cycle he has been running in, from SF mayor on up and adding now millions of undocumented migrants with their criminal records
We give them free healthcare
Housing
Education
Taking hundreds of millions of dollars to serve them while those $$ could be used to support what you speak of
Besides that hospitals are crowded ERs are slammed and I see the ‘gleeful cruelty’ foisted on the
working middle class struggling to get their kids a decent education without a empirically unsound biological and psychological ideology , and the skills they need to thrive without a system pushing ideology instead of excellence
We obviously have different lived realities —
CA has a Democrat supermajority and they control everything

Bless you! Words of wisdom
Wonderful post and I can only imagine what seeds were planted by your response to that researcher’s plea.
I came here to get away from all of the hate being spewed by the left towards 1 man and 1 party. Please look in the mirror. Bye!
Thank you for letting me know! Take care and I hope to see you back one day.

I’m sorry to take up your time — I appreciate your dedication and altruism
But the info is there
Such a timely piece that has landed just when I needed to be reminded of solidarity in time, space, and within humanity--and Anne Lamott rocks, too!
